Gallery: Houston U18 soccer team places third in Smithers

On June 10 in Smithers, the Houston U18 soccer team competed in a tournament against six other teams and successfully placed third overall. Teams from Smithers, Hazelton and Houston competed in the soccer tournament. Houston played three games against three Smithers teams. Houston won their first game against Smithers 3 to 2. The second game Houston played against another Smithers team and tied 2 to 2. In their final game Houston versed another Smithers team and won 3 to 2 again.

The Dze L’ Kant friendship centre in Houston has an outdoor playgroup available free to everyone at Jamie Baxter park on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. In the winter the centre normally has a play gym at the Houston Community Hall, but now that the spring and summer months are here, the centre is hosting the children friendly gatherings outside. “We provide snacks and water,” said Janine Dennis, early childhood education coordinator for Dze L’ Kant Friendship centre.

On June 10 at the Four Seasons Park in Houston, a soccer tournament was held for the U8 and U10 divisions. Four teams from Houston, four teams from Hazelton, three teams from Telkwa, and 14 teams from Smithers participated in the tournament. The U8 Houston Green Goblins lost two out of two games, U10 Houston Team Lightning won all three games, the U10 Houston Blue Bombers had one win and two losses, and U8 Houston Smurfs team had two losses and tied one game.
