Friend asks people to watch for him on the unbeaten path

Annual Mud Bogs at the Houston Airport on June 24 was anotehr huge success. The seating area was packed, gooey mud splashing everywhere on a hot sunny day, and many delcious food from vendors to be enjoyed.

On June 16 at Silverthorne Elementary School, Grade 4 and Grade 5 students celebrated their graduation of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program. A drumming ceremony was performed, essays on what the students learned from the program were read, and pizza, certificates and t-shirts were distributed. “We will be running the program again in the next school year,” said Sergeant Burndred.

On June 16, 2017 at Silverthorne Elementary School students celebrated their last class at Jumpstart dressed up as pirates and mermaids. The program will begin again this year in the end of September or beginning of October. Jumpstart is a pre kindergarten program, only children going into kindergarten the following year are eligible to apply. The program is free but limited to two classes and a maximum of 15 kids in each class. Application process to register begins mid August.

Trinity Donecz and Doris Munger are a granddaughter and grandmother singing duo that perform together at various festivals.

On June 20, 2017 at the District of Houston council chambers, Sgt. Jason Burndred of the Houston RCMP detachment presented to council a community update regarding programs that the RCMP organizes.

May never make up for the lost sockeye

The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has given $150 to every branch for Canada’s 150 birthday, and I am honoured to announce that I have been chosen by the Houston branch to be their representative.
