Editor, Re: Going Gaga over smart meters (B.C. Views, March 16). What's the point of having a smart meter without having an automated system that knows which appliances and systems can be safely turned on and off automatically to ensure that the power consumption of a home is kept to an optimal level, depending on time-of-use rates?

Like any good 21st century journalist I watched the historic confidence vote last Friday from the edge of my seat through a live Twitter feed, coupled with a live Internet video feed.

This coming Monday, March 28th will be a time to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our local Houston and District Chamber of Commerce.

Editor: In response to the Water Treatment Plant Referendum, which was mailed to Houston residents lately, I for one, as a retired District of Houston, Director of Public Works, Senior Staff employee, and long time resident of this community, have a few concerns with the process that is being brought forward to the taxpayers of Houston.

My passion for reading developed as a young child.
