It is so important that we make the right choices of shots in our round of golf. So many times, we take chances. Make wrong decisions and most often pay the price in our score. Know your game and play within your capabilities. Not saying we do not take any chances and challenge the course from time to time but do not take chances that you know are not within your capabilities. Shots that you know that success is not in your favor. The odds are low of pulling the shot off.

First, let me explain the above, “the dreaded slice vs the preferred fade “and “The dreaded hook vs the preferred draw”. Basically, there are three types of shots in the full swing. The slice (your ball curving away from you severely). Away from you means for a right-handed player the ball curves well to the right side. The hook (your ball curving towards you severely). Right-handed player the ball curves well to the left. Opposite for lefties. The straight shot being the third ball flight.

General tips for better scores for your game

In the last article I covered some tips on helping you to lower your scores. In this article we will do the same. Often, we do not make the proper decisions on the shot at hand. For example, playing on a windy day. We may not make alignment or proper club selection changes to adjust for the windy conditions or we may play our ball position in relation to our foot position the same as in a wind situation where changing your ball position is necessary.

Here are a few tips of different parts of the game that should help you make better decisions on how to play certain shots. I call this good play management as there is more to the game than just the physical act of hitting a ball. A huge part of the game in regards to scoring is your decision making. The mental side of the game. I might mention that patience play’s a big part of the mental side also.
