Houston Zamboni’s come out on top for Old Timer’s Tourney

The Houston Oldtimer’s Hockey Association hosted their annual tournament on January 7th, 8th and 9th.

Twelve Old Timer’s teams from throughout the northwest descended on Houston recently for the annual Old Timer’s Tournament. Six Houston teams made up the mix.

The Houston Oldtimer’s Hockey Association hosted their annual tournament on January 7th, 8th and 9th.

This tournament remains a seasonal favourite, the tournament saw teams come in from Kitimat, Burns Lake, Fraser Lake and Smithers, with 12 teams participating in total, in three divisions.

Six different Houston teams represented, with two teams coming from Smithers.

In the 50 and over division, the Houston Zambonis were victorious once again for the second year in a row, dominating play.

The Houston Whalers played hard and were noticeably competitive, but it was the Smithers team that won the 35 and over division.

The Burns Lake team won the Mixed (Buck and Doe) division.

“It was another great year for the Old Timers’ tournament.” Oldtimer’s President Don Woodbeck said. “It’s always a fun and successful weekend every year. We have fantastic sponsors and support from local businesses. The dinner and dance was great, all in all it was a great weekend.”
