Put away the gumboots, splash into spring

Well, according to the B.C. River Forecast report, I can put my new gumboots back in storage.

Well, according to the B.C. River Forecast report, I can put my new gumboots back in storage.

With the seasonal forecasts from Environment and Climate Change Canada reporting back higher than normal temperatures between April and June, it doesn’t sound like we can expect much rain. So I might as well sport a swimsuit and wait for the mud drags to whip out my stellar boots again.

I think my mom will be quite pleased to know that they’ll be clean for the rest of the season. No more having to subtly throw them into the bath tub with a cloth on top, after nagging me politely numerous times to clean them. Love ya, mom.

I finally feel like my grieving of winter solitude and extreme sports, especially my love for snowboarding, has finally come  to a close. Now, I am really to splash into Buck Creek after a day of writing and get my fill of spring summer lovin’.

Presently I am searching for a bicycle rack and basket that can carry approximately 65 to 88 newspapers, and then I can do my biweekly paper route through Houston from Monster Industries to Countrywide Sports.

I may not be a cop for Tour De North, but I think that stretch in Houston is a reasonable goal.

Even though I have a very flexible schedule at Houston Today, and nature is quite accessible in the North (so long as you have a vehicle), I still find bargaining with my sister to drive me around more acceptable.

It might not seem like it, but I kid you not, all that brain power word slinging sentences together that are coherent, accurate, and more importantly, informative, is a calorie burner.

I used to be a regular gym rat spending three to five days at the gym. Now, I’m all in favour of long periods of downward dog and child’s pose on a yoga mat. Preferably in the comfort of my own home where I can face plant if unexpectedly seized by exhaustion.

I’m not entirely sure how my plan to load up on the brief adventures this time of year offers will pan out, but in the wise words of my mother, “Don’t get choked.” It will happen one way or another.
