William Robert Blacklock (Bill) was born August 30th 1942 in Vancouver B.C. to Charles and Eileen Blacklock. He spent his childhood years growing up in Penticton with his sister Judi (Winkler). He married his first wife Gloria and had daughter Cori in 1962. After moving back to Vancouver to work for the city Bill began dating Pam whom he wed in 1967. Daughter Sherri was born later that year with Lori following in 1970. The family moved to Houston in 1973 when Bill accepted a transfer through Northwood to be their personnel manager. The next several years saw Bill in a variety of management positions; including the time he spent in Williams Lake from 1986-1997. Never having felt the contentment he had in the north, Bill moved back to Houston in 2001 so he could be closer to his ever growing family. His last few years he struggled with several health issues; diabetes, hemochromotosis and osteoporosis, but still found the time and energy to dedicate himself to the town. He served on Town Council, was on the library board, was involved with senior’s housing, past president for both the CIHL and the Houston Luckies, volunteered for the Canadian Diabetes Association and enjoyed his part-time work for Sullivan Motor Products and as Houston mall’s lease manager. His diagnosis of cancer came only 6 days before his passing on July 1st, 2008.
Bill was predeceased by father Charles Blacklock in 1987 and mother Eileen McCarthy in 2004.
