It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Mom's passing on Thursday, March 7th, 2024, in her home in Granisle, British Columbia, after a lengthy illness at 82 years old.
Born September 5th, 1941, in Bell Island, Newfoundland, Shirley was the oldest girl of 11 children. She married at the age of 16 to Albert Rees living in Newfoundland, Quebec, Calgary, Ontario and finally settling in Sudbury in 1968 with their young family, when Dad retired from INCO they settled in Elliot Lake, where Dad passed away in 1993.
In 1994 Mom moved to Granisle British Columbia where she fell in love with the beauty of northern BC. She married James (Herman) Parks (predeceased)in late September of 1994.
Mom is survived by her children Albert (Lisa) of Granisle, BC, Derrick (Jacqueline) of Victoria, BC., and Karen (Gorden), Randy (Chantal) and Walter (Sherry), all of Sudbury, ON.
She will be remembered by brothers Gordon, Howard and Douglas, and by sister Mary as well as sisters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
There will be no service, at her expressed wishes.
