It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosina, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away peacefully on December 26, 2011. Predeceased by her husband Ted, she will be lovingly remembered by daughter Doreen [Rick] Van Rhijn, daughter Patricia [Dominic] Bozman and son David [Haleh] Paul, grandchildren Lynn, Ted, Stephen, Nial, Michael, Andrea, Megan, Aaron, her many great-grandchildren and her sisters, nieces and nephews in England.

Rosina was born in London, England, the second eldest of five children. She grew up during the Great Depression and the experience shaped her character; she always had empathy for those who were suffering. Rosina met her husband Ted during her service in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. They married in 1945, and Rosina followed Ted to Canada to begin her new life as a wife and mother. Ted passed away in 2009, after nearly 64 years of marriage. Rosina missed her husband greatly and is now in peace at Ted’s side for eternity.

A Memorial Service was held 29 December 2011 at St James Anglican Church with Reverend Daphne Moser officating and Marie Kalyn on the organ. Thank you to ladies of the church for looking after the tea. Thanks to Al Schrader for his kind help and services. Memorial tributes may be sent to Bulkley Lodge or to a charity of your choice.

We would like to thank many of the people that have been an important part of Rosina’s life in the last few years. Our thanks and gratitude go out to Grant Lemke, Home Care Nurse; all the Home Support Workers, the ADP staff, Drs Morkel, Woudstra, and Chandler (who cared for her during her last hospital stay), the nurses at both the Houston Health Centre and BVDH and Roberta Willson, Houston Lab.

Extra special thanks also goes out to Iris and John Taekema and Ann and John Karsten who were always there to help mum and to Liz and Ferenc Gerei who took her to the seniors lunches and supplied her with great baking!!

The help from all of the above eased mum’s last year and made it easy to keep her at home. Thanks again to all!!
