With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert Wayne Anderson (Bob). Born August 26, 1948 in Burns Lake, he left us peacefully on May 3rd. Graduating from Lakes District Secondary School in 1967, Bob worked on the survey crew with the Ministry of Highways. He was then employed at Omineca Lumber working on their tug boat at Pendelton Bay until 1972. Bob worked at Canex Placer (Endako Mines) until 1974. It was during this time that Bob decided that he wanted to be a heavy duty mechanic and pursued his choice at the Terrace Vocational School, becoming certified in 1975. Bob was employed by Finning Tractor in Houston in September 1974, and was a dedicated employee for the following 34 years. Starting his employment as a heavy duty mechanic, Bob later chose to work in inventory for his last 12 years.
Bob displayed his fine craftsmanship in many ways - obtaining his pilots license in 1985, and also through hunting, fishing and fly-tying. One of the finest of his crafts was turning wooden bowls made out of tree burls. In 1982, Bob constructed his own home out of logs, carefully hand hewing any cedar shakes that needed adjustment to fit the roof, and meticulously selecting each rock for his fireplace.
Bob valued his friends and hanging out with them was a cherished activity, “the shop” being a favourite meeting place. Bob is lovingly missed by his mother (Betty), father (Gordon) and sister (Bev) as well as many friends and co-workers who knew him over the past 25 years that he lived at the Uplands (Perow).
