Heinrich (Henry) Joseph Breitkopf passed away peacefully at Discovery Harbour Senior Care Center in Campbell River, BC on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
Henry was born June 13, 1932 at Bruntal, Austria to Heinrich and Anna Breitkopf. Henry came to Canada in 1939 with his parents and older sister, Annie.
They were sent to St. Walburg District, Saskatchewan to begin their lives in Canada. Henry stayed on the family farm in Loon Lake SK area until he was 16yrs.
He then made his way west to BC working many different jobs along the way. He ended up in the Burns Lake area working in the logging camps. Eventually, he ended up in Houston, BC working at the Northwood Mill as a Millwright. He continued working at the mill and put in over 30 years of service which he was very proud of.
He is survived by his longtime partner for the last 40 years, Yvonne Morel and her children and grandchildren. By his children; Leroy (Diane) Brietkopf, Joseph (Cheryl) Brietkopf, Kris (Susan) Brietkopf, Tiffany (Trever) Payne.
His ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. His nieces and nephews and brother in law George Duriez. He was predeceased by his parents Anna and Heinrich Breitkopf, an infant brother, his older sister Annie Molinger, his younger sister Ellie Duriez and his daughter Kathleen Brietkopf.
Henry and Yvonne retired to Salmon Point Resort near Campbell River, BC in 1995. Henry and Yvonne moved out of Salmon Point Resort into Berwick By the Sea Retirement Home in Campbell River, BC in 2017. Henry really loved it there. But because of mobility issues, Henry moved into Discovery Harbour Senior Care Center in Campbell River in May 2019 until his passing.
Henry wished to be cremated and buried with his parents in Saskatchewan.
