Ernie Lund was born May 6, 1926 In Perow B.C. and lost his battle with cancer on May 8, 2020.
At the age of 14 years, Ernie was a tie hacker for Olof Hanson and worked up at Dungate Meadows (Hanson's Dam). Through out the early forties Ernie worked at different tie mills in the valley. In the late forties or early fifties started working for Harry Hagman as a sawyer, then logging truck driver and finally as a heavy duty mechanic.
Around this time in Ernies's life he met a young lady named Glenda Montan, who he married in January, 1963 and they had a son Dwayne.
When Harry Hagman sold his mill "Buck River Lumber" to "Bulkley Valley Forest Industries", Ernie kept working for the new owners.
In 1972 "Bulkley Valley Forest Industries" sold to "Northwood" where Ernie continued to work as a heavy duty mechanic until he retired in 1988.
Though out his life in the valley, Ernie loved hunting and fishing, most of his fondest memories are from his time spent hunting and prospecting on Telkwa Range.
Ernie is predeceased by his parents, Edward & Helma Lund, Brother; Herbert Lund, Carl Lund. Sisters; Esther Anderson, Annie Gerow, Dolly Hagman, Thelma Lyons and Norma Lund. Ernie is survived by his wife Glenda and son Dwayne.
Thanks to the doctors and the nurses of the Houston Heath Clinic, "Palliative Care Unit," for the great care that Ernie received during his time there.
