November 27, 1959 - September 7, 2022
Darald was born in 1959 in Williams Lake, BC to Thelma and Don Gagne, the 5th of 6 children. He would later tell his children and grandchildren of the adventurous and often unbelievable childhood he had.
He met his wife, Andrea, in 1977 and they wed in 1979. They moved where the work was and that led them to Houston for the mines and then to Dawson Creek where they were when they had their son, Sean, in December 1982. Later they would move down to Vancouver Island where they lived with Andrea's parents while Darald attended Malaspina College to obtain his mechanics certification that started them on their final journey from Smithers to Terrace.
In 1984 Darald, Andrea and Sean moved to Smithers. In 1987 their daughter, Christina, was born. He worked for a few companies and made many friends, contacts and memories that were fondly remembered over the years. They would remain in Smithers until March of 1999 before making their final transition to Terrace to join Darald who had been working and travelling since 1997 for River Industries.
In December 2004 Darald had his first heart attack and that is when their lives would change. The man who didn't know how to slow down or stop would have to slow down and learn what a limit was. We were given 5 years, we got almost 18. He was a fighter. He defied odds. He was stubborn. He was a Gagne.
He is survived by his loving wife, Andrea, son Sean (Trina), daughter Christina (Aaron), grandchildren Keira, Quintin, Logan, Ashella, Aislynn, Rory. Sister Sandy, brother Randy (Kim), brother Mark (Martin), Aunt Sherron, many nephews and nieces and their families.
He was predeceased by his mother Thelma, father Don, brother Roddy, sister Arlene, brother-in-law Lewis, nephew Lewis.
