Barteld Woelders went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 85 years.

Barteld was born in Hardenberg, The Netherlands in 1924. As a young man, he immigrated to Houston, BC and married Hendrikje Tenbrinke. All eight of their children were born in Houston.

He worked in the lumber industry and was involved with the fire department. In the early 1970’s, the family moved to Chilliwack where he was employed for most of his years at Burgess Feeds in Agassiz. In 1995, his wife was taken home to be with the Lord.

In February 1997, he married Christina Jantina DeBoer, which added nine children to his family. They were happily married for 11 years, until she was taken from her earthly home in October, 2008. He was granted a very healthy 85 years and lead a committed life to God as a member of the Canadian Reformed Church.

Barteld will be sadly missed by Jenny (Andrew), Henry (Penny), John (Linda), Gerry (Anita), Bill (Trudy), Barry (Deborah), Corny (Val), Richard (Brenda); nine DeBoer children and their spouses; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends was held on Thursday April 29.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Chilliwack Canadian Reformed Church, 49379 Chilliwack Central Rd. Rev. R. Ijbema officiating.
