One dead in accident east of Terrace

A head-on collision has killed one and sent others to hospital on Highway 16, 30 km east of Terrace.

Saturday afternoon at approximately 12:41 p.m. the Terrace RCMP, B.C. Ambulance and the Terrace Fire Department attended a two-vehicle head-on collision between a passenger car and an SUV, about 30 km east of Terrace on Highway 16.

The passenger in the car was deceased at the scene and the driver was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace with life-threatening injuries.

Both occupants of the SUV were taken to the hospital as well with non-life threatening injuries.

The identities of all involved are not being released at this time but RCMP said that all were residents of Northern B.C.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation at this time.

The North District West Traffic Services wants to remind all drivers to exercise due care while driving this long weekend. That includes wearing your seatbelt, not driving while tired, obeying the speed limit and not drinking and driving.
