Police say no further action will be taken after looking into the circumstances in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Benson Ave. and Hwy16 just before 7 p.m. Nov. 24.

“The investigation revealed that at the time of the incident the pedestrian was not using a marked crosswalk, and therefore no charges will be filed against the motorist,” said Houston RCMP detachment commanding officer Sergeant Ryan Fillmore.

“Houston RCMP are reminding the public to use marked crosswalks when transitioning across any roadway.”

The provincial Emergency Health Services agency reported that an ambulance was able to respond immediately because it was in the vicinity of the accident.

The pedestrian was taken to Bulkley Valley District Hospital in Smithers and is expected to make a full recovery.
