The Houston RCMP responded to a report of a snowmobile accident in a remote area near Huckleberry Mine, an area they note is only accessible by snowmobile.

A rescue team was sent out and upon arrival they discovered the body of 45-year-old Houston resident Torbojrn “Tubey” Eriksson.

His sled had struck a tree a high speed and RCMP say he died instantly.

Details surrounding the fatality are still being gathered with an investigation conducted by the Houston/Granisle RCMP, in conjunction with the B.C. Coroner’s Service.
