Houston made it onto FlightNetwork’s Canada’s Top 50 Small towns. In British Columbia five communities were selected including Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, Prince Rupert, and Houston.

FlightNetwork said Houston’s best features was its small size, friendly and welcoming people, intimate accommodation options including cabins and lake lodges, as well as restauants serving some of B.C.’s best home cooking.

According to the website post, people whose heart lies in fishing will feel right at home in Houston. “However, you don’t have to be an avid fisherman to love the amount of canoeing, snowmobiling, hiking, biking and cross-country skiing options available in the Houston area,” wrote FlightNetwork.

The Houston Chamber of Commerce visitor centre was marked as a must see stop to view the world’s largest fly fishing rod and explore Steelhead park.

Houston being the Steelhead capital of the world was also noted as a fun tidbit of the community.
