“I love my job,” said Wendy Prebble. Wendy has been in the Houston Secondary High School’s kitchen for the last five years and prepares breakfast for the students for both the high school and Twain Sullivan Elementary. Students eat breakfast for free every morning. Such items as waffles and berries, egg bites, yogurt parfait cups are available until lunch time. Prebble does all the grocery shopping, food prep and cooking to ensure that the students are happy with their nutritional meals. Every lunch special is only $3 per meal and Prebble ensures that the portions are fitting for hungry teenagers. The breakfast and lunch programs are sponsored by Bulkley Valley Community Foundation, Presidents Choice, Belsham Family, Breakfast Club of Canada, DLM meats and Butcher Shop, Dungate Community Forest, Danielle and Warren Himech, Marni and Kevin Himech, Buy Low Foods, Roz Barron, Canfor, Houston and Granisle RCMP Victim Services Program and Staggering Peaks Contracting.
