A Fraser Lake man is dead after losing control of the SUV he was driving Aug. 12 on Highway 16 west of Houston.
The man was driving west on Highway 16 near Barrett Hat Road when his Chevorlet Tracker SUV rolled over. The driver was thrown out of the vehicle, which then rolled on top of him.
Houston RCMP and the B.C. Ambulance Service arrived at the crash site at about 5 p.m. Witnesses had lifted the car off the driver.
The driver was taken by ambulance to the Bulkley Valley District Hospital in Smithers where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The cause of the incident is under investigation, RCMP said.
This is the second fatal collision on the northwest corridor of Highway 16 in two weeks, the RCMP said.
The North District Traffic Services reminds all motorists to drive safe by wearing a seatbelt and to quit driving if they feel tired. Also be sure to obey the speed limit and don't drink and drive.
