Coming truck parking restriction

The District of Houston is restricting truck parking on municipal land near Elements Restaurant.

The District of Houston is restricting truck parking on municipal land near Elements Restaurant.

Mayor Bill Holmberg said they’ve gotten complaints about trucks leaving their trailers there or parking there over a weekend.

“[It’s not overnight parking] that bothered people, it’s when trucks are parked there Friday night to Monday morning, taking up the parking lot with trailers and trucks,” said Mayor Holmberg.

Councillor Rick Lundrigan said trucks are required to take a ten hour break minimum, so they could just put a sign to indicate a ten-hour maximum parking limit.

Houston CAO Linda Poznikoff said council is looking at enacting a municipal ticketing bylaw by January, and once it is in place they will post a “Notice to Truckers” sign.
