Houston Flyers play Chase Broncos for gold

The Houston Flyers played the Chase Broncos for the Gold Medal on home ice at the Claude Parish Memorial Arena on March 21. After a slow start for both teams, the Houston Flyers won with a final score of 6-3. The Flyers were also deemed the “most sportsmanship team” of the Midget Tier 4 Provincial Championship Tournament. Houston ringette winds up another year

Houston ringette have now finished another season. Coach Kari Nevin said that with their 59 players they had an amazing season. This season they traveled to tournaments in Terrace, Prince George, Quesnel,Langley, Richmond, Kamloops and Kelowna. Some the players represented Zone 7 at the BC Winter Games, placing sixth. Niven went on to say, “For the first time, Houston had two teams qualify for Provincials. The U14 team played well resulting in one win and three loses but all were close games.

Houston Snowmobile Club poker ride

Houston Snowmobile Club held their second annual poker ride at the Telkwa Range on March 10. It was a great turnout with more than 100 sledders on the mountain. Door prizes were given out and a 20 minute helicopter ride was also won. Houston Flyers bring home bronze

The Houston Flyers peewees were off to Smithers last weekend and came home with a bronze medal. They played Smithers and won 9-0, beat out Fort St James 4-3 and Prince Rupert 4-0, but lost to Quesnel 6-5.

Ringette players from Houston, Prince George, Quesnel and Terrace gathered in Houston for a weekend ringettetournament. There were of 140 players over the weekend ages four to 11. Houston Figure Skating Club recently held a test day at the Claude Parish Memorial Arena. Figure skaters progress through standardized tests that are sanctioned by Skate Canada. This allows them to advance in levels in the following disciplines: ice dance, skating skills, and freeskate.
