Christian school junior girls volleyball team wins tourney

The Houston Christian School junior girls volleyball team travelled to Smithers for a zone tournament two weekends ago and came home with a first place banner.

“The level of competition was good, teams are all learning the concepts of strategic game play and there are many skilled players,” coach Caroline Thomson said of the tournament.

“Our team was ready for this level of play,” she said.

There were five teams in all at the tournament — Ebenezer Canadian Reformed School in Smithers, Mount Elizabeth Secondary School in Kitimat, Centennial Christian School in Terrace, Smithers Secondary School in Smithers and Houston Secondary School.

The Houston team played six games, including against Mount Elizabeth in the semifinals and against Ebenezer in the finals.

Morgan Dykstra won the team all star award.

Jamie Mayer was the second coach for the team.

you can see that HCS Jr Boys were in Terrace at SMS for ‘B’ Zones and they placed 3rd.
