Old health centre drainage system replaced

Several exterior drainage pits at the Houston Health Centre had reached the end of their useful life.

Work is being completed to ensure that there's proper drainage to avoid water accumulating on the flat roof of the Houston Health Centre.

Several exterior drainage pits had reached the end of their useful life and exterior drainage pipes were installed to run into a new drainage system.

This new system featured the excavation of a large hole into which large cement cylinders were placed. The piping system from the roof will then run to the cylinders to dissipate over time.

Western Industrial Contractors from Prince George is the lead company on the project.

The new system has a lifetime expectancy of 50 years.

This new system is the latest in a series of minor and major capital projects designed to extend the life of the Houston Health Centre and to improve its overall efficiency and comfort.
