More acts of vandalism have been reported with the target being District of Houston property.
In short order in recent days, a dedication plaque has been pried off from an in memoriam bench and damage done to seating in front of Brewstir's Cafe.
The seating in front of Brewstir's on 10th is part of the wholesale amenities installed by the District as part of its wholesale below ground and above ground multi-year program to rehabilitate and reconstruct the community's downtown core.
Lynn Morgan, a member of the family which sponsored the bench to honour a loved one, took to social media in response to the loss of the plaque.
The sponsorship cost the family a lot of money, Morgan said in asking for people to have some respect.
"These benches have significant meaning to others. Be kind," she added.
Houston RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact the detachment.
"At the present time the incidents will be investigated separately," said detachment commander Sergeant Ryan Fillmore.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate an earlier act of vandalism at the duck pond viewing area.
Initials were burned into the wood and signs defaced at the newly redone viewing platform area.
"No suspects have been identified to date," said Fillmore.
The Houston RCMP detachment can be contacted at 250-845-2204.
