Gallery: Twain Sullivan Elementary students participate in Traditional Ecological Day

Workshops included traditional medicine, ecology, navigation

On May 29 Twain Sullivan Elementary School grade 4-7 students were bussed up to Silverthorne Lake to participate in the annual Traditional Ecological Day. This year's teaching stations were medicinal salves with Jackie Maurer using Devil's Club,  plants and their traditional uses with Sam Birkendahl, aquatic bugs with Margaret Letkamen and traditional trail markers/ rock stacking. In between the students attending these workshops was a healthy BBQ lunch provided free of charge by the Twain Sullivan P.A.C. Other activities included cooking Bannock on a stick over open fire, sound mapping, beading and a forest walk. The students were back on the bus to town at 2 p.m.
