District of Houston councillors do more than provide governance and make spending decisions within the District. Councillors are also attached to various societies and boards as representatives of the District.

District of Houston councillors do more than provide governance and make spending decisions for the District.

Councillors are also attached to various societies and boards as representatives of the District. It provides an opportunity keep in touch with activities throughout the District and area.

Here is the updated list of councillor appointments as decided at the District of Houston Dec. 17, 2024 council meeting. They are for one year.

Tom Euverman is the primary and Tom Stringfellow is the alternate to the Bulkley Valley Airshed Management Society.

Mayor Shane Brienen is the primary and Lisa Mueller is the alternate on the Houston and District Chamber of Commerce board of directors

Karen Hougen is the primary and Troy Reitsma the alternate on the Houston Public Library board of directors

Tom Euverman is the primary and Lisa Mueller is the alternate on the Northern Development Initiative Trust regional advisory committee

Tom Stringfellow is the primary and Tom Euverman is the alternate on the Harm Reduction Committee

Shane Brienen is the primary and Lisa Mueller is the alternate on the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako board of directors

Karen Hougen is the primary and Troy Reitsma is the alternate for the Dungate Community Forest Limited Partnership

Troy Reitsma is the primary and and Jonathan Van Barneveld is the alternate on the Houston Airport Society

Van Barneveld is the primary on the Widzin Kwah Water Working Group.

The District is also required to have a committee to review development permit applications.

Councillor Tom Euverman is the primary and Councillor Troy Reitsma is the alternate on that committee. Its other members are senior District staffers.

Library lease renewed

The District of Houston has officially agreed to a 10-year lease agreement with the Houston Public Library Association.

The term runs from Jan. 1, 2025 to Jan. 31, 2025 at a total lease cost of $1.
