The Houston office of the Dze L Kant Friendship Centre has temporarily moved their programming in to the United Church building on Butler Avenue. On Jan.13 the community was invited to an open house lunch to share homemade soup and bannock and have a look at the new space and how it will be utilized. The church building is currently up for sale but for now the first floor will be utilized for the Tadpoles Program, Mother Goose program, community kitchen program, Mommy and Me group, as well as the after school programs. The upstairs loft area of the building will be for the teen program which includes a work table space and a TV viewing space. The friendship centre is also upstairs of the Houston Mall for administration purposes and can be accessed by the outside door next to the south entrance of the mall. The Dze L Kant Friendship building on Eleventh Street is now vacant and will be set for demolition to begin in late March 2025. Followed by the construction of their new and improved centre.Angelique Houlihan photos/Houston Today
