Gold, green and red colours from fireworks lit up the night sky in Houston Nov. 29, 2024 as the community gathered for the annual Christmas lights light up event at Steelhead Park.
The fireworks were paid for by the District of Houston and set off at 7:30 p.m. from Jamie Baxter Park, making them visible over a large swath of the community.
Pops and bangs went along with the colourful display.
The show lasted about 15 minutes, much to the enjoyment of those who turned out.
The fireworks have now become a Christmas tradition, a change from when the District had a fireworks show on Canada Day. Warm summer months have been bringing on bans of items such as fireworks, leading the District to favour the annual light up night instead.
