The upcoming Ebenezer Canadian Reform School production of Fiddler on the Roof promises to be a fun show.
Fiddler on the Roof tells the tale of Tevye and his daughters in Tsarist Russia and how Tevye tries to maintain a strength of family and their Jewish faith as outside forces - such as the edict of the Tsar to evict Jews from their village - encroach upon their lives.
Ebenezer students will be reperforming the popular musical that they've been rehearsing since early January, and Cheryl Fennema, the drama teacher at Ebenezer, said the kids have just been having a blast learning the choreography, lines, and lyrics to the show.
"The kids have been doing great, they're really having a lot of fun," Fennema said.
Ebenezer has up to 60 children participating in the play, some of whom are from Houston. The shows are on April 28 and 29 and start at 7:30 p.m. at the Della Herman Theatre. Tickets are available from Tower Communications in Houston or at Interior Stationery and the Ebenezer school in Smithers.
