Houston Secondary School was thrilled to receive $2,000 from the Houston branch of the Bulkley Valley Credit Union, as well as a treadmill that will make an excellent addition to their new fitness room.

The funds came from their 2011 Community Builder Campaign, Tanya Amonson with BVCU said, who were happy to support the program that HSS Vice Principal Jaksun Grice has worked so hard for.

Their new fitness room, dubbed a Community Wellness Space, currently has a few pieces of exercise equipment, as well as mats for yoga like activities, but in the future they hope the space will attract more users to the gym, which is already in high demand not just from school groups, but the community on the whole.

The idea is that community users could use the space while their children are involved in events in the gym, or those of advancing years could use the space in the winter months to keep active.

The new treadmill, and funds for other equipment, will go a far way to making this vision a reality.
