Community asked to join in Pitch-in week

Next week, people are being asked to pull up their sleeves to help make their community greener as the District of Houston joins the rest of Canada for Pitch in Week.

"We're asking everyone to take part," Chamber employee Lisa Makuk said.

Large industrial garbage bags are available at the chamber, who are organizing the event. Once the garbage is collected, people are asked to call the Chamber, who will then call the District of Houston crew, who have graciously agreed to come pick it up from there, Makuk said.

She's hoping to see crews to clean up area trails, roads, and along the highway in town boundaries. Schools and clubs have been approached as well, as larger numbers make quick work of the job.

Council will be doing their part as well, with councillors volunteering their time to see their community greened up and ready for spring.
