Ray was born December 29, 1945 in Ermelo, Gelderland, Holland. On Wednesday, June 14. 2017 he was called to be with his Lord and Savior. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was an active member in his church as a Deacon, loved to sing hymns, Praise Songs, sang in several choirs and enjoyed playing his trumpet. He was a member of the Houston Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years mostly educating young children about fire safety. While working at Canfor he went back to school and received his Millwright ticket. He retired on April 1st, 2016 after 42 years of service.

On Saturday, June 24, 2017 his interment was held at 1:00 pm with family and close friends. A Celebration of Life followed at 2:00 pm at the Houston Christian Reformed Church.

Ray was predeceased by his new born son Geoffrey, infant daughter Kristy, daughter Grace, his parents Okke & Mary Anema, his mother-in-law Grace Fernhout, and sister-in-law Dorothy Fernhout. He will be remembered by his wife Ada, Raymond (Lena), Nadja, Noel, Jonah, Liam, Jody (Jason), Aidan, Marissa, Bruce, Faith and Jace. His siblings: Shirley, Tena (Bill), Jenny (Jake), John, Ann, Theresa (Jack), Harry (Nel), Kim (Karen) Jack (Reina) and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to all who participated in both in and after the service. Also, thanks for all the wonderful support of prayers, cards, flowers, food and extra help during the past. To all the staff at the Houston Clinic, Smithers, Prince George and Terrace Hospitals, thank you.
