Bike Camp ran July 4 to July 7 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in Houston and from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in Smithers. The camp was for kids 5-12 who are still on a run bike or did not know how to ride a bike.
The camp was put on by BV Child Development Centre and sponsored by Variety Children’s Charity, Dungate Community Forest, COB Bike Shop and Sportchek. BV Wholesale donated all the food, CCRR and the Houston Library lent bikes and Coho Contracting and Glacier Toyota donated the use of trucks.
The camp is also supported by the Physio Therapist and Occupational Therapist, other BV Child Development Centre staff and volunteers from the community.
People from the BV Brain Injury Association and the RCMP came to speak to the kids about bike safety.
The event was very successful as three kids went from not riding at all to riding a bike. Five kids signed up in Houston.
