Students of Houston secondary and Twain Sullivan Elementary school have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy breakfast served in the foyer of the Houston Secondary School.

“The Breakfast Program, funded by The Breakfast Club of Canada and Breakfast for Learning, along with donations by parents and local businesses, provides a healthy choice breakfast available to all students,” said Stacey Silbernagel, special education assistant for Houston Secondary School.

Silbernagel says there are approximately 400 students between the two schools and about 100 students have breakfast at the program each day.

The Houston Volunteer Fire Department, Houston RCMP, Bulkley Valley Credit Union, and Finning volunteer to serve breakfast to the students on a regular basis.

“We are thankful for the support that we receive and could not run a successful program without them,” said Silbernagel. “Providing a great start to the day is the goal and we look forward to continuing this program for a long time to come.”
